MUSEUM MANNERS

To ensure your enjoyment and the enjoyment of others:

The child you are with is your responsibility and must be supervised at all times.  You are expected to determine which activities and equipment are safe and appropriate for your child’s age and ability level.  Failure to supervise your child will result in revocation of admission without refund.

  • Adults MUST be accompanied by a child. All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.  (More than one adult per child is ok :)
  • We understand the need for strollers for non-walking children.  For the safety of children in the museum, unoccupied strollers must be parked in the designated area only.  If you remove your child from the stroller, please move the stroller into our "Stroller Parking Lot" to avoid injuries.  Thank you for your understanding.  Note: unattended strollers will be moved to stroller parking by Kaleidoscope staff.
  • SHOES ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES!  The flooring of an old mill building is sometimes uneven.  Walking children without shoes will not be permitted.  We recommend good active play shoes, crocs, and sandals on children are discouraged, slippers are not permitted.
  • Food and drinks must be confined to the snack area and are not allowed in the exhibit areas.  Bag lunches are welcome, but please note: NO peanut products are allowed anywhere in the museum.  Parents may keep their drinks with them if they are in covered containers, please have children limit their consumption to the snack bar area.

For more information on the severity of peanut allergies, please visit: http://www.faiusa.org/. I am thankful that my child does not have this allergy, but I know many families who struggle with this issue. Many of the children visiting Kaleidoscope are very young. It is easy for small children to transfer peanut butter from their hands to toys, equipment, etc and then for another child to pick it up when they touch the same object. Dropped food items are easily picked up and consumed by other children. Due to this fact, we have chosen to completely eliminate peanuts and peanut butter from Kaleidoscope. Please respect our policy. Anyone with peanuts or peanut butter will be asked to leave the premises to consume their food and is welcome to return after they have finished. This policy is enforced. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Infant changing stations are located in the men's room and the family bathroom.  Diapered children must be changed in these areas only.
  • Please help return exhibit objects to their proper areas.
  • We discourage the use of cell phones, and encourage interaction.  Please limit your usage to emergencies only.  Computers are not permitted.
  • Be kind and courteous.
  • PLEASE NO CROCS, SLIPPERS  or FLIP FLOPS! - We know they are easy kids' shoes - but they are not safe on our worn wood floors.  Please wear well secured shoes with good tread for active play.
  • Slides are one-way, down only and feet first, for the safety of your child.
  • Rough or violent play is not permitted.  Kaleidoscope reserves the right to remind children of the rules and speak to parents regarding behavioral situations which negatively impact other visitors.  All children at this age are learning about social parameters so it is crucial that parents supervise their children.  Failure to properly supervise your child will result in revocation of admission without refund.  This is for the safety and well-being of all of our visitors.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Restaurants are nearby.  Kaleidoscope has drinks and light snacks available at the snack bar.
